The Bottom Line
This RDA is a little from some of the others and that is because it was designed by vapers for vapers. Vaping Heathen collaborated with Hellvape to create a dual purpose RDA.It’s a dripper, it’s a squonker and it’s pretty freaking awesome. It comes with an easy to build on deck, is capable of single or dual coil use, has a protruding 510 connection so it is compatible with hybrid top caps and it has top inverted airflow so no juice leaks out the bottom….ever. This RDA produces huge vapor clouds with good flavor and it works great as a squoker or dripper. Comes with a squonk pin so you can choose how you want to use it. Learn More About Our Top Pick

Overview:

The HellVape Dead Rabbit RDA is the product of the collaborative efforts of HellVape and Youtube reviewer Vaping Heathen. Vaping Heathen came up with the design and logo and HellVape produced it. It is quite an impressive piece of hardware designed to be different but so much easier to build. And speaking of easy to build, it is so easy that even a novice builder can do it. Due to the simple design and layout of the build deck, it takes only 3 steps: drop in coils, wick, and vape. This RDA is a coil builder’s dream.

I had been wanting to get one of these since they first came out. I thought the little atomic bunny logo was cute and I love the big resin drip tip. I needed something that had a larger build deck and post holes big enough to squeeze your wires through without crowding. I am a big fan of dual coil builds but have trouble fitting the coils in and getting them to glow at the same rate. The leads sometimes cross each other and cause shorts or I have to clip one really short to fit and be able to center them due to the hole placement on the posts.

This deck is so much easier to build on and that is definitely a plus for builders wanting simplicity. This might even make a good first RDA Tank for new builders because it is so easy. There is no worry of getting it wrong since all you’re doing is sliding the coils into the post holes, tightening the screws and clipping the leads afterward. When finished, add the wicks and juice it up and that’s all there is to it.

Features:

  • 5mm Deep Juice Well
  • Four Post Build Deck
  • ./Single or Dual Coil Options
  • Diagonal Adjustable Airflow
  • Gold Plated 510 Connection
  • Gold Plated Bottom Feed Pin

Pros:

  • Large build deck
  • Choice of colors
  • Resin or Delrin drip tips
  • 510 Drip tip adapter included
  • Design minimizes leaking
  • Use as a regular RDA or squonk
  • One of the best RDAs in existence

Cons:

  • I really haven’t found anything to dislike about this RDA. Several color combinations are available but may not be in stock with every retailer carrying them.

Juice Well:

Juice well is 5mm deep and curved to discourage leaking. Wick tails sit down in the wells and absorb the e-liquid that flows up through the squonk pin at the bottom of the RDA. When you look at it disassembled, the deck seems like it should be higher (it is somewhat flatter than decks of similar size) but it works great the way it is.

Post Design:

One thing you’ll notice about the posts is that they resemble rabbit ears ( a cute little design perk). What I like most about the posts on this one is that it is easy to attach your coils. The coils sit on top of the post with the leads going straight down for ease of building. There is no having to fit or center the coils because they have their own post for each with no crossing. And the post screws are side mounted for easier tightening, and replacement screws and a set of hex key screws are included if you’d rather use them instead. I had no trouble with the screws stripping, but again, I have only had it for a few weeks. That may change over time.

Airflow:

The airflow on this unit is slightly different as it has slanted airflow holes. The idea is that the air is pulled in and circulated underneath the coil to produce better flavor and vapor. Some people disagree looking at it from the top, but when the coils are placed and raised to the top of the airflow channels, but it works perfectly and can be used in single coil or dual coil mode. The top ring turns to open and close the airflow from “closed,” “½ way,” or “all the way open.”

Vapor Production:

The flavor and vapor production on this atomizer is some of the best I have seen in the last few years. I tested three of my favorite flavors in this RDA and all of them tasted great. Just exactly like they are supposed to and even better than they normally do in my other drippers. And the vapor production is really good. Clouds upon clouds are what I get with this RDA with no leaking or spit back.

Affordability:

I have seen some really good RDAs going for $30 – $40 dollars so this is a real steal. It is priced well for the quality of this rebuildable atomizer.

Bottom Line:

This is one of the best RDAs on the market and reasonably priced too. I have seen it advertised between $25 and $35 so it is easy on the vape budget for a well-made RDA.
